On Thursday evening, August 31, at 7:00
p.m. in the Dining Commons, Mrs. Wanda Denton will conduct a
seminar for high school seniors and their parents. The
purpose of this seminar is to present information on how to
apply for college and how to acquire available scholarships.
Mrs. Denton prepares and presents this meeting at the
beginning of the school year. She explains that both parents
and students "will leave better prepared and they will
receive more comprehensive information than they would in an
one on one meeting."
Among the topics
being discussed are:
- Financial Aid and the scholarship application process
- How and when to apply to college
- Transcripts, letters of recommendation and resumes
- Scholarship sources, including Bright Futures
- Packaging the scholarship application
The
students who have attended this meeting in the past have
been empowered with the tools to choose a college, apply,
and acquire financial aid. In order to attend this seminar,
the senior and at least one of his/her parents need to fill
out the registration card they have already received or
contact Mrs. Denton at 596-2505 so that she can prepare the
transcripts.
